Starting new KAL soon

BadCatDesigns is starting a new Winter Project, and so am I! I love to knit Andrea’s designs and done many of them. Here are my two swatches for this KAL -
The first is with nupps, and the second is using seed beads in place of the nupps. I’m going with the beads – no nupps. I’m not sure that will make it a faster knit, as putting on each bead is just about as time consuming as a nupp, but it will for sure take less yarn.

The name of this KAL is Snow Queen. I can’t say the color green ties in somehow with Snow Queen, but I decided to make the shawl from my stash. And this is the yarn that qualified. Elann Baby Lace Merino – 1800 yds, on size 4 needles.
The shawl is a combination of Elizabeth Zimmermans Pi Shawl and Estonian knitting. In other words, Andrea’s uses the principle of the Pi Shawl, and incorporates Estonian stitches into the format. Don’t I sound intellectual? (and I really know what it all means!) :)
Stay tuned!

The BIG News :)

I am going to be a Grandma again. Now, I have lots of grandchildren – 11 to be exact and there are actually 2 more on the way. I’m always thrilled about the arrival of a new grandchild, but one is kind of special. They are all special…how can I tell this without insulting the other ones???? :)
My daughter, who has been infertile all these years, is expecting a baby. You may have read her story of adopting her son. If not, you can thru that link. So, this was totally unexpected and such a miracle – I’m still in awe of what God does! She recently remarried and here is the happy family – soon to become 1 more!
So….what has this Grandma been doing? Knitting little things, sewing little things, buying superwash wool for knitting things, buying fabric specifically for New Baby :)
This is what you can expect to see over the coming months, as I celebrate the goodness of God, and prepare for a new grandbaby.

Catch up Time, Chapter 2

didn’t get everything up last post, and in the time between then and now, much has happened and I will fill you in on that, but first, this!
I made fabric bags to ‘wrap’ gifts in, we didn’t do paper wrapping this year. Some were made from white muslin and tied with a pretty bow. A few were made from pretty fabric.

Catch up Time!

All the Christmas gifts have been delivered, so now I can show you what I’ve been working on the past few months! It is so fun to do hand made gifts – you get the fun of making it, then the fun of giving it, then the fun of showing it around! :)
