Making something for me?

Yes I am! It does seem a little strange. Most of the things I make are for sale or for a gift, or just for a friend, but this time - it's for me. Why do I feel so selfish? :/

So, these are two oval glass 'jars' for want of a better word. They aren't vases, too short, but there is no lid for them, I'm not exactly sure what their purpose is, but I know what my purpose for them is! They are going in my new bathroom!

I made violet and ochre flower can for the top, and then scrap greens to make some big leaf canes. I'm just loving how they are turning out! They're not completed yet.

But I couldn't wait to share my fun! :)

Two small oval glass pieces, they will hold things like toothbrush, makeup brushes, and etc. (in my new bathroom) :)

So, did I tell you about my new bathroom? That's in my new room and sewing room? I can't remember - but it's happening! Got the plans back, had to make a few changes, but it should be starting in the next few weeks. I'm so excited!

  1. Hi Karen, You need to do something for yourself every now and then. We all need to take a little "me" time and you shouldn't feel bad about that at all. I like what you did to your oval glasses. They are very colorful. You will have to post some pictures when your new bathroom gets done. I am happy about your getting to write part of a book. Take care. Many Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend.

  2. Thank you Shirley, and you are right! But it's so much easier to say it to someone else :) I hope you take some 'me' time as well. I will definitely post pictures - progress and completed pictures! Hugs to you my friend....Karen

  3. I think my last comment got eaten. The glass jars are so pretty with the embellishments. Is that clay that you used? I think it's great to do something for yourself. Good luck with your new bathroom ... personally I'd rather have a new sewing room (maybe one day!). Have a great weekend. Wendy x

  4. Love the decorative jars, Karen. Nice to see the canes being used for a special project you can use and enjoy every day :) An extra bathroom is one of the best investments you can make, well worth the bit of mess and fuss during construction.

    1. Thanks Monique, I agree, who doesn't ever want an extra bathroom in the house? And yes, I think it is nice to keep some of my canes for a few things :) You sound like you know what it's like to add a bathroom :) karen

  5. Hi Wendy - yes it is polymer clay, and I'm pretty happy with it. I'm getting the new sewing room AND bathroom and bedroom. So, it's a regular 12 letter day (month) for me :) I am having a great weekend, and I hope you are too! :) karen
